About

Born and raised in the small town of Auburn, Washington, I am a student at the University of Washington. At UW. I've had the privilege of being apart of a variety of organizations and have met a diverse group of people. Through this portfolio, I hope to highlight my journey through my undergraduate education

Busy, hard-working, someone who doesn’t have time. These are all words that my friends describe me. For the longest time, I thought that everyone was studying until 11 PM and was always a little behind. I didn’t realize until my junior year that I was in the minority of this. It didn’t hit me that I didn’t have the stellar time-management skills I thought I had. Looking at a reflection I wrote during my first quarter at UW, I wrote about how I wanted to improve my time management skills. These are skills I am still working on today, even trying to set a time for me to be done with my work to relax or hang out with friends.

Those same words my friends describe me by are true though because I tried to make the most of my time. I’ve taken all the hard classes to experience why everyone hated Organic Chemistry, joined numerous clubs to put on my resume, served in leadership positions to help others, even took jobs that I had little time for to get experience in a certain field. Although I was up to my ears in work, I was very content with what I was doing. I realized that I thrive on being busy. Even if I have a spare 30 minutes in my day, I can find something to occupy my time.

I had many goals coming into college. Maintain a certain GPA, get into my major, figure out what I wanted to do. These were all great goals, but goals that focused primarily on my academics. I had forgotten that college wasn’t all about school; it was about the experiences and people that make college. Though I’m sure I could have locked myself away to study and gotten a decent GPA, what else would I have? I wouldn’t have any stories of my college years. I wouldn’t have met the people who have pushed me past where I thought I could go. I wouldn’t have experienced my highest highs or lowest lows, although I could have done without some of the lows. As I look back on my college experience, I see how I have utilized my time to get the most out of UW. This portfolio ties together the coursework and experiences that have shaped me into who I am today.
